There are ribbon cuttings—and then there are celebrations that feel a little more like stepping into a child’s imagination.
On April 16, families across the community are invited to experience just that as the Global Children School opens its doors with a grand celebration at its Woburn School. With music in the air, hands-on activities around every corner, and classrooms buzzing with discovery, the afternoon promises to be as playful as it is meaningful.
At 3:30 p.m., Woburn Mayor Michael Concannon will lead the official ribbon cutting, marking a milestone not just for the school, but for a growing community eager to embrace a new kind of early education.
But don’t expect a quiet ceremony.
Instead, the school will come alive—inviting children to build, create, explore, and imagine through interactive STEM stations, vibrant art spaces, and movement-filled activities. Laughter and curiosity will guide the experience, as families are encouraged to wander through classrooms designed to spark wonder at every turn.
“This isn’t about watching from the sidelines,” said founder Tatyana Martelli. “It’s about stepping into a child’s world—where learning feels natural, joyful, and full of possibility.”
That philosophy is at the heart of Global Children School’s approach. Here, “intentional play” isn’t just a phrase—it’s the foundation. Children are given the freedom to explore ideas, solve problems, and collaborate, all while developing the social, emotional, and cognitive skills that shape confident learners.
In one room, a child might be experimenting with simple engineering challenges; in another, singing in a different language or diving into a storybook filled with global perspectives. English, Spanish, and Russian flow naturally throughout the environment, offering children not only language skills, but a deeper sense of cultural connection.
The school’s classrooms reflect this global mindset—filled with natural textures, handcrafted elements, and thoughtfully curated materials that invite exploration. Teachers, many of whom bring their own cultural backgrounds into the space, act as guides—asking questions, sparking ideas, and helping children turn curiosity into discovery.
For parents, the event offers more than a glimpse into a school—it’s an opportunity to connect. Families can meet educators, learn about the curriculum, and see firsthand how individualized learning and small class sizes create a nurturing, personalized experience.
And, in true celebratory spirit, the afternoon will include a bit of surprise and delight. Giveaways—from tuition discounts to summer program opportunities and educational kits—will be announced live, adding an extra layer of excitement to an already lively event.
Still, beneath the music, movement, and moments of play, there’s something deeper at work.
Global Children School was built on the belief that early education can shape not just students, but citizens of the world—children who grow up with empathy, creativity, and a sense of belonging in a diverse, interconnected society.
“This is more than an opening,” Martelli said. “It’s a beginning—for our families, for our children, and for what learning can look like.”
The invitation is simple: come curious.
The event is free and open to all families. Whether you’re exploring early education options or simply looking for an afternoon of creativity and connection, Global Children School welcomes the community to step inside, join the celebration, and perhaps—just for a moment—see the world through a child’s eyes.
